2nd Grade activities for Steamboat Era Stories:

(2) Color the map and identify the key bodies of water and towns/cities. Also correctly label the compass rose indicating North, South, East and West. Map Form

(3) Complete this puzzle about the various activates that occurred on the steamboat wharf. Word Puzzle Form

(3) Clothes Line Time line (own format). Create a time line of changes in transportation to display in the classroom. After class discussion, divide students into groups to draw their choices. (Examples: foot, horse, wagon, carriage, steamboat, train, automobile, street-car, bus, boat, airplane, subway, etc.)

(5) Write several sentences telling about which part of the steamboat you'd like to explore. Share why you choose that particular area.
