1/00  F introductions, raised on Gywnns Island - lived here all his life - family goes back 7 generations. Grand parents Elwood E. Callis wife Mary Blake Callis one son Elwood Eugene Callis Jr.(John Lees father) John Lee has a brother Elwood E. Callis III.

 2/00  W  Remembers Callis's wharf as a boy - employed 100 people - big oyster and crab house. Made fertilizer out of crab shells. Grandfather used old school bus to pick up black workers he used at the wharf.

 6/30  L, W  Grandfather ran seafood operation at Callis wharf. Family also ran a grocery store up into the early 70's. Store right on the wharf. John Lees grate grandfather William James Callis operated a sailing vessel hauling oysters to Baltimore during the civil war. Area where oyster shells were discarded built up and became Callis Wharf.

 9/08  W  Callis Wharf was a steamboat stop. Grandfather also had a trucking business that delivered goods to people in town.

 12/21  W Recalls what the crab house was like at age 10. Remembers fishing off of wharf and catching nice big rock fish. Big walk in coolers.

14/17  W  Growing up two stores in the area. Worked at store, unloaded trucks, priced groceries, delivered groceries, would take orders over phone and deliver items to people throughout the town. Place in the back of the store where men would come at night, smoke and talk up until 8 or so at night.
