1/00 | ST | Father was in the military. As a young girl lived in Washington, DC on Porter Street in Cleveland Park. 1932 first time she rode on the steamer in DC and ride down to Norfolk. Get on the boat at 6PM and arrive at 6AM. Slept in a cabin with bunk beds. She always slept on the top. Mother told her to order the cheapest thing on the menu. |

3/50 | ST | On steamer just out of Norfolk she witnessed a man that fell overboard. Man was picked up by a smaller boat. At age 8 it was a very fascinating experience. |

5/30 | H | Late 30s she was in the Philippines. Went on a small boat and went to Hong Gong. Was taken aboard by Japanese at Dow Ming during the Japeneses attack. Latter released. |
